Racing

What is it about fast cars making circuits around a course and each other that is so exciting? The fact is that anything can go wrong at any moment. From the moment you unload from the trailer to the last lap, and especially on that last circuit where everyone wants to be first. I started watching racing early in my life, as my father James S. Landis was the mechanic on the #3 and #10. Cars owned by John Nemeth and driven by Bill Buehrle (Boops). In 1967 they were the last Flat Head to be a track Champion at the Grandview Speedway. There were a lot of exciting moments leading up to that event, and the whole family spent a lot of time watching and rooting for our driver to try and put the car in victory lane. The driver might have to charge to the front of the field from the back of the pack due to a bad starting position, his starting position may have been determined by many factors not excluding being a dominant driver in the series, most often though it was due to a failure of a part most likely a tire. On occasion it was possible for our car to go down by a lap, and I can remember watching that lap being made back up. With enough laps and the right circumstances it was possible for our driver to even win a race that most people thought we were to be out of contention for. Being a contender and staying in to the finish that is what racing and life is all about.

Three Years of Silence

What happened? Why have I not updated the events of my life? Has life become so hectic? The answer to these questions and more to be shared all in good time. Who cares? I do as I still see great value in the use of the internet. There is great potential for sharing and showing how we care for others and ourselves.
