The Rules of DateHookUp.com about links, also what Fair Use is.

|<-Back|

There was nothing in the forum rules to restrict links from this site to or from off site information. We can link in site and to other sites and from other sites. That is what makes the internet work; it is a web of information.

I said that at the start of all of this I read the rules and also posted the information to the Fair Use and Copyright information. Which explains how information posted in the public domain can be gathered and used legally. At the onset of using my ability to link information posts and sites to the internet, I came here and created a thread explaining what I have in mind. I explained that anyone wishing to opt out, in other words have their LINKS to their threads removed from my work that they have the right to do so and all requests would be granted. So far I believe that I have done what I have said I would do.

I was put on the defensive because what we are talking about is use of information, and prior permission and an agreement that you have agreed to with DateHookUp.com this is where we have to iron out the problem. Not only did I read all the rules for posting of which they say nothing about the use of links; in site (internally), inbound or outbound (to and from) the site. They do request the prior permission from the parties involved. The other thing is to protect all people from harm or abuse.

Every one of us is responsible to protect ourselves from this type of harm or abuse, not putting information out there that can lead to trouble down the road. That leads us to the terms of service.

Note that the part I made bold, 'part c'. Above is your agreement to how DateHookUp.com uses the material that you post on this website. You are also aware that anyone using the Fair Use Information can come in and copy your writings and use that material as part of their own research because you have posted this information in the area of the public domain. The real issue occurs when they sell the work they have done or get their work published for profit. Now your work would be bought and paid for or not permitted so essentially you have stopped the research from making a profit by not granting your permission of use. I hope this helps to clear the air, I would once again provide the appropriate link to the Fair Use Notice that I provided on another thread for concerns about using copyrighted material. That is another thing; you have not indicated that any of your material is copyright protected. Again we fall back to what is in the public domain is free to all to use with due respect. You know with the links you really don't need a citation page anymore, because the links actually are citing the source of the information. It is another drawn out step to gather up every link provided in a research project and certainly is not necessary, the material being linked to is only supporting a thought, and not everyone needs to prove the supported concept. Academia makes too many hurdles to jump through and around and most of it is not necessary. No research can stand alone and no one should be forced out in the cold because they have brought together all the works that make a great piece of research. Take great care and note who makes personal attacks and who doesn't allow them. Many people around you want me to look like the bad guy, am I really?

Another aspect or Topic is, "Does a person need permission to quote what another person said or wrote?" I think that is another issue all together, because there are many reasons to quote another person.
